YTA Tech Predictions Luncheon 2013- February 26, 2013

Tired of hearing the same old predictions about the same old consumer apps and 3D TVs?

This year, the YTA is bringing together a panel of tech business insiders to give insight into the direction of the tech industry in Canada, including trends in capital sources, funding, and the types of businesses and products that are attracting attention.

Lead-off Presenter and Panel Moderator: Michael O'Neil is CEO of the research organization, IT Market Dynamics. He is the chief content officer for IT in Canada, Canada`s only integrated social media news network.IT in Canada publishes the only two Canadian IT trade magazines - IT in Canada (for IT and business management) and The Canadian Channel Standard (for Canadian VARs and other solution providers). He also produces regular, in-depth content on sustainability, security, cloud computing, and collaboration. Prior to cofounding IT in Canada, Michael spent 19 years with IDC where he held executive responsibility for the Canadian business, and for the launch and growth of the worldwide Software Business Strategies group. As a member of the global management team he led the corporate Pricing, Packaging, and Customer Experience group in the global strategic planning process.

Panelist: Howard Gwin in his role as Venture Partner at OMERS Ventures, is responsible for leading investment activities in the North America market focusing on high-growth companies in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. He has experience in every major software industry segment. Howard has held roles in the board or management of several tech enterprises including 360incentives.com, BuildDirect, Dayforce, Rypple and Bridgescale Partners.

Panelist: Robert Lane is a leader and mentor for many tech organizations in the GTA. He has been in attendance at the popular International CES 40 times throughout his career!He is active in smart building technology, home automation, energy management as well as the providing advisory services to a number of start-ups and established organizations. He is President of Signum Wireless and a board member of CDSC Systems Inc and of Symboticware Incorporated.
